Goddess Interrupted by Amiee Carter
Last year I reviewed The Goddess Test and I thought it was okay when I reviewed it.  I hoped the second book in this series would be much better. After all the first book was about establishing characters, world-building and its mythology and so on.  So I thought it can only get better from here. And honestly I wasn’t disappointed the story was much more compelling. Goddess Interrupted started out with a whole lot of action on her first day back in the Underworld. At her coronation to be crowned Queen. Kate is attacked, her husband is taken prisoner and she learns that her father-in-law (Cronus)  wants to kill her or does he?  And the person she thought was no longer a threat is behind it. Jealousy is something awful when a woman scorned plots vengeance. Needless to say, Kate is having a bad day. Which only gets worst when she discovers she has to ask the last person the wanted for help.
The ex, her sister Persephone, had such bad press I hated her on principal and I’m glad we got to hear her side of the story. Henry and Kate’s relationship was at times like two pals hanging out, throw in the emotional baggage of an ex we get conflict, conflict. But when the walls came down and it was just them no doubts or distractions it was really sweet I wish there were more of those moments. Speaking of hookups the gods have nothing on trash tv. Kate learns once you live long enough you get bored and things happen the hookups are juicy and read like a Jerry Springer episode. I love it made me want to read more there were a lot of good plot points to move the story so that when it lulled it wasn’t a big deal.  Calliope made an excellent villain I hated and pitied her equally but the fact she was willing to go so far was pathetic but made the story better. I must say I it enjoyed immensely.
Now the dirty business even though I loved the story there are a few points I have to address. Number one Kate’s emotional descent from this strong girl to a whining flip of a thing got on my nerves. I get if I were in her shoes I would act the same but the difference is I would snap out of it faster unlike Kate who takes up 86% of the book lamenting over Henry’s feelings for her despite his actions to protect her. I was like are you blind even I could see he loved her. Kate’s constant need for reassurance reading it was exhausting imagine having the characters rinse repeat it in every chapter. Yes, she knows Persphene broke his heart and left him eviscerated, and watched 11 of her potential replacements die,  killed by Calliope.
He is more than a little shell-shocked and she says so but still she can’t stop herself from pushing him which is also natural but could she have done it with less whining. So much time is spent on her whining that it was a little distracting. Sorry I know I wrote like a paragraph but this was such a huge part of the book it needed to be addressed. The ending was like a huge middle finger it reminded me of watching a movie on basic cable just the killer is about to kill the star it fades to black and a commercial pops on screen. A hair-pulling moment—I read it totally expecting more but instead the old cliffhanger plot device was in full swing I wanted to throw the book in frustration because I knew I had to wait until next year, why Amiee Carter why are you doing this to me do you know waiting sucks.
I gave Goddess Interrupted a four out of five why the story, characters, the mythology of the world Ms. Carter created  and because at the heart of it this was a good story. The good out weighted the negative. Once you get pass the whining the story moves from one beat to the next. I would recommend this book if you are into Paranormal romances, Chick lit because of all the angst. Ages 14 and up there was one swear word in the whole book you’ll live. And that is my two cents comment below and tell what you think I love hearing from you guys.

Kate Winters has won immortality.
But if she wants a life in the Underworld with Henry, she’ll have to fight for it.
Becoming immortal wasn’t supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she’s as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he’s becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate’s coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.
As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future. Henry’s first wife, Persephone.
